A Barbeque Birthday....

Hi There...

I apologize for my tardiness in keeping my blog up to date this past month. My creative juices have all but evaporated. I've managed to produce a few cards for special family occassions...but other than that my mojo is very lacking.

I'm hoping to try and rectify this during June. Wish me luck...LOL!!!

Today I have a card that was made for our DS's Birthday. He loves to barbeque...thus the theme for his card.

The above is the card front. The following is the card opened up. This is an easel card...which is really quite fun to create.

I've used a really cute digital set from Nitwit Collections for the papers and embellishments. I've put my own spin on some of the items...like the barbeque. I've added 3-D dimension by layering and adding glossy accents and cutting with an exacto knife.

I've also used a lot of faux stitching and distress ink to the paper edges. The tags were computer generated and then attached to decorative circles made with Spellbinders Nestabilities.

The above is the computer generated saying in the centre of the card. I thought our DS would appreciate the "play on words". As I mentioned above...this really was a fun card to create!

Thanks for dropping by and I hope you will take the time to become a follower. I'd love to hear from you.

Monkey Business...

Hi There...

Today I would like to share a layout with you that I made for a NSD challenge at "Let's Scrap" www.letsscrap.ning.com .  We are celebrating NSD all month long there...you should check it out...it's a wonderful place to meet folks who are like minded and the challenges are awesome!  They really get your mojo going!

This is a layout showcasing our DGS Aidan at the Toronto Zoo last summer.  He was totally enthralled with the monkeys.  I think the feeling was mutual if the photo on the bottom right is any indication...LOL!!!

All of the elements on this layout are from my stash...I'm trying to use stash for my projects this year.
The card stock is Coredinations and the patterned papers are from an older line by "Doodlebug" called "Zoo Safari".  I've also used their stickers and matching borders.
I've use plenty of "faux" stitching on this layout...even the pennants have "faux" letters.  The large and small circles were made using Spellbinders dies and a cuttlebug embossing folder.  I have also sanded the embossed circles.  As a final touch I've added some journalling.

Well thanks for dropping by....I would love to hear from you...

Hannah's Birthday Card...

Hi There....

Well, we woke up to a dark and dismal day here in Eastern Ontario...the weatherman is calling for rain all day...YUCK!!!!  I'm usually not too productive on days like this...it makes me want to curl up with a good book and shut the world out.  Impossible today though...must get out and VOTE!!!!  This country needs...change...and hopefully it will happen today!

Enough said...today I am listing a card I made for our DGD Hannah's 8th Birthday....oh my...where has the time gone????  It just flies by these days.

The card was made using a sweet digital kit that I purchased from www.nitwitcollections.com.  They have the most adorable kits on that site...I know I'll be purchasing more!!!

I've printed all of the papers used here except for the card stock.  The images have been cut and layered with dimensionals for a 3-D effect.  I've used Spellbinders for the plain and scalloped circles.  Magnolia dies have been used for the scalloped lace border, lacy dragonflies and the message tag (which is on the inside of the card).

Here you can see the inside of the card.  The tag is hidden in a little pocket in the centre section.  There is a ribbon to make it easier to take out.  This is where we added our personal message to Hannah.  As you can tell I've added lots of faux stitching and I've edged the card and dragonflies using Distress ink.  I've also used Stickles and Glossy Accents for some extra bling!

This is the card in it's folded position for display.  As I've mentioned these kits are so cute...perfect for folks like myself who are...scissor happy...LOL!  I just love to cut paper!!!!

I've also made a custom envelope for the card.  It has extra depth so that cards with dimension can fit into it without causing any harm to the embellishments.  I've added a Basic Grey magnet to the back of the envelope...this makes it so much easier for "little hands" to open the card...our DGD was really enthralled by the magnet...who knew!!!!

Well folks...I'll close for now...

Take care and thanks so much for dropping by...

Lyn

"Just buzzin' by" Card...

Hi There...

What better way to celebrate this beautiful spring day than to have this cute little gal...Just buzzin' by....

Today I'd like to share a Birthday card with you.  I've made this using one of those adorable Magnolia stamps.

There are several layers on this card including the little bumble bee figure that is popped up with dimensionals.  This is a 6"x6" card.  I've used white card stock for the base and black for all of the matting.  I have then added yellow embossed card stock as a background.  The patterned papers are from my stash.  Sorry, I don't remember the lines that they came from.  The image and saying are sponged with Tim Holtz distress ink and then popped.  I have also added faux stitching, a Martha Stewart border punch, gingham ribbon, Kaiser pearls and a little flower from the $ store.  The saying is computer generated.  The image was stamped with Memento ink on watercolour paper and then coloured with Prisma Colour pencils and OMS.

Thanks for taking the time to stop by...you're comments are always appreciated!

Lyn

Back On Track....

Hi There...

I'm finally back on track and have found time to do a little creating this week!  I really haven't been up to scrapping the past couple of months...must have been those "Spring Blahs".  Hopefully I'll be a little more productive now that spring has finally arrived...the robins are back!  That's a good sign!!!

I've used this weeks "Let's Scrap" sketch for the above layout.  You really should check the site out...they have amazing sketches for both scrapbooking and cards.  The site is http://www.let'sscrap.ning.com/.

The papers used on the layout are from my stash.  They are a much earlier release by the name of "June Bug" by Basic Grey.  I've used one 12x12 sheet of coredinations card stock for behind the photos...other than that all the elements of this layout are the "June Bug" line.

Even though our little Granddaughter Hannah is wearing a Elmo party hat...she just loves all things "doggie".  So...with that in mind...I thought this BG line of papers would be perfect for the layout.

Thanks so much for dropping by...I appreciate hearing from you...

Hugs,
Lyn
